Advance nutrition education to address rural food insecurity.
The Maryland RHTP is facilitated by the Maryland Department of Health's State Office of Rural Health and focuses on three impact areas: transforming the rural health workforce, promoting sustainable access and innovative care, and empowering rural residents to eat healthier. The program has immediate impact and long-term transformation funds totaling $168 million awarded through competitive subawards. Key initiatives include workforce training expansions, primary care access increases, telehealth infrastructure, behavioral health services expansion, and food system improvements.
