The Rural Clinical Preceptor Stipend Program (RISE 2.2, 2.C), under Utah's Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), provides stipends for licensed physicians (MD, DO), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and Physician Assistants (PAs) practicing in Utah’s rural counties who serve as uncompensated or first-time clinical preceptors. For Year 1 (July 1–December 1, 2026), $200,000 in stipends is available, aiming to expand rural clinical training capacity and enhance Utah’s rural health workforce pipeline. The program is federally funded by CMS/HHS. Continued funding is anticipated over five years.
Eligible applicants are licensed MDs, DOs, APRNs, or PAs who actively practice in Utah's rural counties and serve as clinical preceptors for eligible students from MD, DO, APRN, or PA programs. Priority is given to first-time and uncompensated preceptors.
