RHTP Initiative 10 - OB Fellowship for Family Medicine Physicians

Summary

This opportunity will provide funding to Indiana institutions to establish an OB Fellowship for Family Medicine Physicians in year one and support salaries for OB fellows for four additional years. The program aims to address rural maternity care provider shortages by training family medicine physicians in comprehensive obstetric care, including prenatal care of low- and high-risk pregnancies, inpatient labor and delivery, surgical obstetrics, contraception management, OB ultrasound, NICU rotations, and Maternal Fetal Medicine experience.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are Indiana institutions capable of establishing and administering an OB Fellowship for Family Medicine Physicians, including, but not limited to, rural health hospitals and clinics, FQHCs, and critical access hospitals located in or serving rural communities, provided they can implement rural rotations and a comprehensive obstetric curriculum as defined in the Statement of Work.

Requirements Checklist

• Applicants must establish an OB Fellowship for Family Medicine Physicians, deliver a yearlong curriculum covering prenatal care, inpatient labor and delivery, surgical obstetrics, contraception management, obstetric ultrasound, case management, NICU and Maternal Fetal Medicine rotations, and ensure rural rotations. Funding is for salary support of OB fellows across four subsequent years.
