The West Virginia Department of Health, through the RHTP, announces the RHT-AFA-04-28-2026-MSC3 funding opportunity. Up to $5,000,000 is available for a one-year project period (ending July 31, 2027) to expand rural graduate medical education and workforce development statewide. The purpose is to co-fund faculty positions at regional colleges, expand residency and fellowship capacity in critical health disciplines (MD, DO, NP, PA, Pharmacy), and prioritize high-need and Health Professional Shortage Areas. Strict reporting, administrative, and financial compliance required.
Eligible applicants include: Accredited colleges, universities, health care organizations, and governmental units located in West Virginia, capable of expanding rural graduate medical training programs in Health Professional Shortage Areas. Applicants must demonstrate experience in workforce development and adhere to federal and state grant compliance requirements.
