MS rural health program · Posted June 15, 2026
The Health Technology Advancement & Modernization (HTAM) Initiative is Mississippi’s statewide effort to modernize the technology infrastructure underlying rural healthcare delivery. The HTAM program focuses on upgrading outdated health information systems, improving cybersecurity posture, expanding telehealth capabilities, and enabling providers to share information securely across the healthcare system. Targeted grant opportunities support technology upgrades, replacement of EHR systems for small rural providers, cybersecurity enhancements, and the creation of a statewide Health Information Exchange. The initiative is funded primarily through a financial assistance award from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), totaling $205,990,180.16, with 99.96% provided by CMS/HHS.
Eligible applicants include Mississippi-based state agencies and rural healthcare providers participating in the Mississippi Rural Health Technology Program (MSRHTP). Additional eligibility requirements may apply as specified in the application guidelines.
