Supported by state general funds and federal RHTP funds (CMS/HHS), the program aims to increase the number of locally trained physicians who are likely to remain in Nevada to practice. Grants are awarded to institutions for residency or fellowship expansion, new programs, or to prevent loss of accredited positions. Funded projects must directly address provider shortages and align with strategic state needs. RFA for Nevada Department of Corrections to modernize rural correctional healthcare under RHTP Budget Period 1.
Eligible applicants are entities in Nevada operating ACGME-accredited medical residency or postdoctoral fellowship programs, including hospitals and academic institutions. Programs must be physically located within Nevada and address provider shortages in designated geographic or specialty shortage areas as identified in the 2025 Nevada Health Workforce Research Center analysis.
